First things first. 2012 has been a year of some top-drawer Hollywood movies. Unlike Bollywood films, the Hollywood flicks might not have entered the Rs. 100-crore club in India, but there have been quite a many English films which did manage to draw a lot of footfalls to the cinema halls. Needless to say, Hollywood does have a niche audience in India.
Choosing which films would make it to the final cut was not a cakewalk, for Hollywood churned out some memorable films in 2012. If there were several sequels, there were also films which gave a fitting end to a trilogy or even a saga, for that matter!
However, according to us, it is The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 2 which was perhaps the most-awaited film of 2012. Starring Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner, the saga which began in 2008, finally ended with the release of Twilight Breaking Dawn 2 this year. Not only did the film strike a chord with Twihards, it has even set the cash registers ringing, raking in $706,192,715 (and still counting, mind you) worldwide!

2) THE DARK KNIGHT RISES

After a gap of three long years, Christopher Nolan’s Batman trilogy saw the release of The Dark Knight Rises, which was sadly the last installment. However, the film garnered positive response from cinegoers and film critics alike and even went on to rake in $1,080,995,984. That was no mean feat!
3)sKYFALL

His name is Bond…James Bond. Perhaps the best Bond film ever, Skyfall, starringDaniel Craig, got a bumper response in India and collected Rs.27.5 crore at the Indian box office after just four days of its release. The film got its best villain in the series so far in the face of Javier Bardem.

A perfect jamboree of superheroes, The Avengers was one of the best Hollywood films of 2012. The film minted $1,511,757,910 and even won critical appreciation! It released in India on May 4.
5)thE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN

| After a gap of five long years, Spidey fans finally saw their favourite superhero on screen with the release of The Amazing Spider-Man. Since Tobey Maguire opted out of the film (for whatever reasons), Andrew Garfield filled in his boots and gave a crackling reboot to the Spider-Man franchise. The fact that the film minted $752,216,557 says it all! |
